Francis Blackwell Forbes was John Murray Forbes' son and a member to the Forbes family. He was the greatgrandson, Rev. John Forbes, grandson of James Grant Forbes. Forbes was born in New York City on 11 August 1839. His parents were John Murray Forbes (c1807-1885), and Anne Howell, (c1849-1865). He married Isabel Clark, New York City on 8th May 1867. They had three sons, William Howell Forbes (1837-1896), Henry De Courcy Forbes (1849-1920), as well as Paul Revere Forbes (1836-1936). The family owned and ran a number of businesses both in New York and around the world.
